Disney Tip of the Week: Scheduling ADRs Part Two

Last week, I wrote about the importance of scheduling ADRs as far out as possible (up to 180 before your vacation) to ensure the most options for restaurants and meal times.

But what if you missed that 180 day mark?

What if you're taking a spontaneous Disney trip? If you are -- you lucky devil you....

So you didn't get your top choice restaurant for a 6:00pm meal time. Bummer. Still, you're going to Disney World, so try not to be disheartened. There are still TONS more dining options for you.

Say you're set on trying a new restaurant in Epcot's World Showcase, but the "normal" dinner times are full. Try an early or late meal time, either closer to 4:30 or near park closing. These times might not sound as appealing, but you can always keep satiated with snacks before or after your meal. You could also try a lunch reservation instead of dinner. The extra benefit of a sit-down lunch is escaping the heat midday!

If trying another meal time still is not cutting it, consider trying another restaurant. Venture outside the parks to a nearby resort. Two of my absolute favorite restaurants on property are Sanaa at Animal Kingdom Lodge and Kona Cafe at the Polynesian Resort. (I'll note also, when I've eaten at these restaurants, it has been outside my "normal" dinnertime, and I still had a great time!). An added bonus to eating at a resort is leaving the hustle and bustle of a crowded park!

Missing the 180 day ADR mark doesn't mean you'll be left hunting down your favroite Quick Service restaurant -- there are still options out there for you. Not scoring your top reservation is just your cue to get a little creative. Break out of your comfort zone and your normal routine. You're going to Disney World, after all. Stay positive!
