This week's tip is about the importance of an afternoon rest while in the parks. The nature of your break is up to you, but you absolutely should take one! If you rolled out of bed in time for rope drop, and plan to stay in the parks with a late close or evening extra magic hours, you should consider heading back to your resort for a nap after lunch. Mid-afternoon is the hottest, busiest time of day in the parks, so you’ll only miss the cranky people in long lines anyway. Just remember to set an alarm so you don’t miss your dinner reservation!
Another option for those who don’t want the time commitment of traveling to and from the hotel is to just sit in the parks. Just sitting in the parks can be harder than it sounds, with all the tempting attractions, but there are several ways to do it. You could have a table service lunch-- sit back in air conditioning and eat something tasty. You could see a show-- like American Adventure in Epcot or Beauty and the Beast in Hollywood Studios. You could hop on the Monorail and ride it around a few loops. Or, you could grab a snack and a bench and just people watch for a while-- we love all the nooks in the Morocco pavilion!
At Everyday Magic, we’ve done all these options, and we don’t have a favorite. It really depends on the day for us -- how we’re feeling, when the next Fastpass is. You have to decide what works best for your family each day. But an afternoon break is essential to keep energy levels up during your long park day!
