A family vacation to Walt Disney World can be expensive, really freaking expensive. For many families, it's a once in a lifetime trip. If that's the case, you want your kids to enjoy themselves and remember it fondly, but you don't want to break the bank. With so many souveniers to tempt you and your kids, saying "no" is going to be hard by the last day.
Enter Tinkerbell gifts. The idea is that you bring small items for your kids that are "gifted" by Tinkerbell overnight. The gifts can be light-up toys, stickers of a favorite character, a t-shirt or a new plush Mickey. Purchase the Tinkerbell gifts thorughout the year on clearance racks or online. This way, your kids have exciting new things each morning to reduce the "Mommy/Daddy can I have..." and you don't have to pay the inflated in-park prices!
Bonus: Tinkerbell gifts can work like a Disney-fied Santa Claus and bring gifts only to well-behaved children. That can help reduce whining!
Disclaimer: I did not coin the phrase "Tinkerbell gifts," but the phrase is used on many Disney vacation and parenting blogs. If you happen to know where the phrase originated, I would love to give proper credit!
