Tip of the Week: How to Combat Thigh Sweat

Ladies (and gentlemen), let’s talk about thigh sweat. I know, it’s nasty topic and somehow, we’d all rather discuss boob sweat. But still, it must be addressed. Thigh sweat, and the chafing that accompanies it, can ruin an otherwise wonderful Disney day.
As a Chicagoan, I know how hot and humid weather feels. What I sometimes forget is that Florida gets that year-round. And since I tend to visit Disney during the winter months, I need reminding before every trip.
There are two ways to combat chafing from thigh sweat.
The first is talcum/baby powder. Brad and I like the Goldbond brand because it’s medicated and cooling, so it works as a preventative and a treatment. You can buy travel sized bottles-- a park bag essential for us! We re-apply in conjunction with sunscreen. It works well not just for legs, but on sweaty feet, under bra straps, under a MagicBand, etc. Click Here to browse Amazon for your Gold Bond supply options!
The second way to prevent chafing is to wear appropriate clothing. This is not the time to rock daisy dukes, ladies. Personally, my closet is about 75% skirts and dresses. This actually is a great option for Disney parks because they can be so lightweight and cool.* Chafing is a major downside, though. In a throwback to my elementary years in the 1990s, I wear dance or yoga shorts under my dresses. That way, I don’t have to worry about my skirt blowing in the wind, awkwardly getting in/out of low ride vehicles (like Pirates or Maelstrom), and it cuts down on the chafing. I scooped up a couple pairs of active-wear shorts at Forever 21, and I’ve also seen them at Target.
Any way you do it, something must be done to keep thigh sweat from ruining your vacation -- I hope this helps!
*I love wearing light cotton sundresses to the parks because they are so versatile. I’m cool during the warm part of the day, and if the temps drop with the sun, I just throw on a pair of leggings and a cardigan/hoodie. I like layers that roll up small to keep in the park bag!
